English, do you speak it? 😛

I would say the linux console is 100 times more powerful than the one in windows.

Konsole is the KDE terminal emulator and by no means is limited to linux. You can run konsole in cygwin on windows.

I mean you both have to use a ipconfig or ifconfig to get your ip,
ifconfig has been around since before dos AFAIK.

and you could run linux from the konsole and no desktop or kde or gnome exactly like dos was am i wrong or dumb? heh
You mean "console", not "konsole". Text-based computers were the only computers for a while. Dos is an example, as is any unix. Dos borrowed commands from unix and changed some of them a bit. Have you read anything about the history of unix and linux? You should.

PS work on your typing, it blows 😉

No, I find it quite annoying. Whats so hard about typing normal? Does it make you guys feel 'cool' or something to type like a moron?

Young teens?!? :disgust: so you think that being young is an excuse for typing like your fingers are drunk? I've been a member of AT ever since I was a "young teen", but I've never typed half as wacked as alot of you guys too. Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe grammar would be an important thing to make usage of? I hope you have a better excuse than just being young.........

The worst part is that many of these "teens" that type poorly online do the same thing in their writing in school. Some will even go as far as to use instant message shorthand such as "brb" and even "lol" in writing assignments.

Writing is an art form, and you are judged on how well you write (as well as speak). Do yourself a favor and clean up the grammar, spelling, etc.

I think enough people have made fun of your inability to type or spell or construct sentences, so I'll just ignore that. Your point seems to be that the Linux console is pretty much DOS because it's a command prompt, am I right? If that is your point, I ask you to consider this. Is a Formula 1 car pretty much a model T Ford because they are both based off of internal combustion engines? Is a F-18 Hornet pretty much like the Wright Brother's plane because they are based on the same physics? Is a 10 megaton thermonecular bomb the same as a firecracker because they both blow up?

You just scratch the surface of something and conclude that it's "bascially the same". The whole point is what you can do with it, not how you do so. Typing commands into a prompt does not characterize Linux any more than using pedals and a wheel characterizes a F-1 race car.

Nice 😀 Well said.

I think that BmXStuD is on meth.

Anyway, you are right that one can do everything in Linux from a command line. That used to be the only way you could use it, and it still is and will always be the correct way. I, personally, only run X so that I can have multiple xterms visible at once and run Mozilla on another workspace.
