I didn't think Cleveland was as bad as other cities in Ohio, reps for the videos.

It's not nearly as bad as the video indicates.

FWIW I've lived the majority of my entire life (save for college) in a suburb of Cleveland.

Ohio gets a bad rap because inbetween the major cities is essentially farmland, which doesn't really make for much of a scenic drive. It's pretty flat.

Cleveland has been suffering economically for a while, but it isn't as bad as those videos show. Yeah, it has some bad parts. But what city doesn't?

My uncle and his wife have hit up every city with a MLB stadium and they said that Cleveland was easily one of the most fun and enjoyable cities they've been too. So much so that they are looking forward to go back.

For what that's worth anyway.....

From what I have gathered through friends and vague research, I'd say Cleveland is better than Cincinnati, and only better than Toledo due to the way they've handled the size of the metropolis. Toledo is Detroit Jr, easily. It's not terrible, but in the scale of a metropolis like Cleveland, it would take the cake for the worst city in Ohio. It might still do that on its own, not sure in Cinci is worse than Toledo in general or not.
I will say for sure that Columbus has got to be the best city in Ohio, though it still comes with the baggage of a large actual city population and inner-city problems, though with it being the capital, downtown is just awesome.

I agree, Columbus is easily the nicest city in the state.

I went to school in cinci and spent time in all three cities and I always thought Cleveland was the best city in Ohio. OSU's campus would be the only reason I could understand you guys liking Columbus.

living in a suburb versus living in the city will give you different viewpoints. I have a buddy who lived outside of the city limits of Toledo, whereas I grew up in the city itself. I vastly disagree with his view that Toledo is a decent city. There is a lot to blame on the consistently inept local government, but it goes beyond that. You see more of the little things when always surrounded by the actual city.

And, driving in Ohio tends to be pretty boring. Flat terrain, and mostly straight highways. Thus, speeding is required to add anything to my drive. Plus, I become more alert when I start driving over the speed limit on the highways, just because of the surroundings make the speed limit feel slow and that slows my brain. :)

But if you go toward the southern half of the state, scenery changes fast. The entire Southeast region, and all along the Southern half, it becomes quite not-so-flat as the edge of the glacial region turns into the beginning of non-glacial land. My first time in Southern Ohio I was amazed at how very different it was from Northwest Ohio. I thought all of Ohio was flat in my childhood. There is some beautiful scenery in the South. Hocking Hills is probably my favorite scenic visit in Ohio.

Campus is nice, but it is surrounded by shit outside most of the student real estate. But head towards downtown, and that changes drastically. And the shopping centers throughout the city, what there is available to do to pass time if desired, there's a lot to offer in this city that completely amazed me.

hahahahahaa. the 2nd one had me rolling. I thought the first one was funny, but the 2nd one is one of those rare instances where the sequel outdoes the original masterpiece...Terminator 2, Godfather 2, etc.

Agree here too. Although Cleveland really isn't that bad. Never actually lived there like I did in Columbus, but the concerts were always good, and it has a vibrant night life. The flats are actually pretty cool, so I don't know what the video guy has against them. I did really like the "Who the fuck still uses a payphone" line, though. I think the main problem with Cleveland is that it's economy was largely based on industry. And seeing as how the only thing made in the USA anymore is pencils and tupperware, then they kind of got screwed. You can only have so many tupperware factories...

Eh, our downtown is kinda weak. The university district is good, but the downtown just consist of government buildings, a few restaurants, and a movie theater. Coming from Chicago I find that Columbus is more a collection of suburbs(some more dense than others) than anything else.

And yes, just outside of the student campus areas is one of the worst neighborhoods in west Columbus.
