The pills come in this box. Each one is individually contained in a plastic pod. On the other side of the plastic pod, printed on the part you push through to get the pill out is...

a silhouette of a pregnant woman with a circle and a line drawn through it. :p

I think it would be so funny if birth control pills or condoms were packaged this way. :D

What some people will do for something as silly as not wanting pimples. You know that it can have nasty side-effects, right?

accutane? didnt they pull that stuff off the market after all those nerds went blind?

oh, and everybod, i have seen these before. there is a list as long as my forearm for "DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION IF..."

obviously, pregnancy is one of them. and yes, it would be an excellent idea to package stuff like that.

Yeah, that is some strong stuff. It really should be used as a last ditch thing for people who have had acne for awhile and have a really bad case of it. One of the warnings used to be, and I'm not joking, that a child born from someone having taken (taking? i forget) accutane could be born WITHOUT EARS!

I took accutane a few years ago after trying minocyclin (sp??) and it worked beautifully. I had no side effects luckily enough, but I have been acne free for years. Fantastic stuff.

hehhe I had the same packaging, strange stuff. Are you cycling it? like 20mg in the morning and 40mg at nite? Just curious...

What's RD fodder?

No, I'm not cycling. All the pills are 40 mg.

I'm aware of the side effects. I'm also aware from a lot of reading in forums like this one of accutane users, that all the hairy side effects are quite uncommon. It's worth it to me.

I just got off it!
Thanks God I am off that horrid medicine...

Well its not that bad, but it gets old quick!
You should not take it for more than 5 months.
So is that 80mg per day?

I was on it for about 6 months or so. The only side-effect I had was REALLY REALLY dry lips.

Haven't had an acne problem since, though. This was like 6 or so years ago.

I took a variant of that drug for a skin disorder I had.

No side effects, it just dried me out like crazy. Stock up on Chapstick now! :p

Yep, 80 per day. I have Cetaphil moisturizer (expensive stuff :() and Blistex lip balm on hand for the expected side effects. :D

Edit: Disgust icon doesn't wanna show for some reason.

That stuff makes you depressed and people have killed themselves because of it.

Why would you want to take it?

I wanted to take that stuff, but I can't, because I am extremely active outside under the sun, and I live in south texas. Our sun expsore is pretty much like the tropics and if I took that stuff, it would jack me up.

I would recommend either Purpose or Cetaphil, they make good, gentle cleansers and mosturizers!
Do not wash your face with a bar of soap and of course lots of Chapstick, I like vanilla the best .

BTW, in case anyone didn't notice, I posted this thread to laugh at accutane's packaging. I'm going to take it until my body gives me a reason not to. So far I've seen one personal account (or close to it) of something other than dryness happening in this thread. If you want to postcount++ be my guest, but don't post "don't you know that accutane causes depression?"

I saw on the news a while back that somebody did a poll using that symbol of a pregnant woman with a line through it. They asked a question to the effect of 'What does this mean if printed on a bottle of medication?' More people thought it meant it would keep you from getting pregnant than you shouldn't take it while pregnant.

I'd believe it. That was the first thing I thought of, although I already knew from other reading that you weren't supposed to take it while pregnant. Perhaps they should print the deformed baby head on the back. :p

I went through 5 months of it, the nasty side effects were dry skin and occasional nose bleeds on the first 2 months.....i think its well worth it for what it does to ur acne...anyways the side effects werent THAAAT bad.

Wait, you've only been taking it for a day and you're already noticing side-effects?

I'm on accutane right now, but I'm just doing 40 mg a day. The only side-effect I've had is really chapped lips, but I have chapped lips normally. About the depression; it is extremely rare. The only reason it was made a big deal was that the kid who flew a plane into a building in Florida was on it. But, you already knew that, right? ;)

Hey, a smart one in the bunch! Welcome (back? ;)) to ATOT. Yeah, and he didn't have Accutane in his system when he crashed the plane either as I recall.

I took it for a while and had a really bad side effect. I got a disease called Ulcerative Colitis from it. Will end up having to have a surgery for it or living with it for the rest of my life. Read up about it, it's a pretty nasty disease.
