Well, LG ad and design teams suck. Their ads are hardly appealing to people of european mentality, just like design of their products. I read they are very big in India and Asia. But I fail to see why I should buy an LG product if it costs almost the same as Sony or Toshiba, for example, is of lower quality and funny looking.

IIRC it stands for 'Lucky Goldstar' and that's a place in Korea.

Lucky Goldstar is a corporation, not a place. It's comprised of Goldstar (wow, who'd have thought) and another company, to make LG.
