It was little more than blatant product placement, paid for by the International Banana Society.

I mean, come on, that stuff happens with TV all the time. I bet you that that whole Vulcan Live Long and Prosper hand sign was the result of a bet - "Hey Gene, bet you $200 that within the next month, I can get millions of people to do "this" [demonstrating the split fingers sign] with minimal prompting."

Could bode well for the corn industry too, with smart product placement. Corn syrup is kind of slick, right? It's cheap, right? Food product, so it's probably safe for skin contact, right? Cross merchandising potential.
