Before anyone asks, it's a crummy helpdesk job that I'm utterly overqualified for.

Anyway, I know I have an interview some time tommorrow because they told me they were holding the interviews on the 26th when I initially applied. But I had no idea when. So about 7:00 tonight, I decide I probably won't hear from them and should give them a call tommorrow morning.

... And then, at 9:00, I get an email telling me to be there at 11:30. A little more than 12 hour's notice. Excellent. Oh, and they misspelled 'interveiw' in the subject line. And it was sent to all 6 applicants (we were all listed nicely in the 'to' field)... and there are 10 positions. Why the hell are there interviews, again?

they misspelled a word that you misspelled? doesn't that make it the correct spelling?

I did my helpdesk tour of duty, dammit. They just didn't pay me. That makes me overqualified. Nobody should EVER have to do more than one helpdesk job.

Okay, I misspelled it intentionally to depict the way they spelled it, which doesn't quite fit with the rest of the sentence. :cookie: for noticing.

Low-time (I'm a full-time student), very flexible scheduling, enough pay (though it's still ridiculously low) to buy me lunch and buy me gas.

It barely qualifies as part-time. I'm talkin' like 12 hours a week. I spend more time than that wanking.

So I went in for the interview. They were more than pleased with me, except for one minor glitch. "How good are you at following directions?" "Great?" "Well, not to pick on you or anything, but what directions did I give you when you arrived here today?" "Wait in the lobby." "And did you do that?" (I had walked in on them talking about the previous applicants, promptly realized my error and left) "No, but the girl ahead of me told me to come back here." "Oh, okay. Just trying to understand what went wrong there."

Sorry, hotchick, if I cost you that coveted helpdesk position. But it's your own damn fault. :p

I should recieve confirmation tonight - any luck and they bumped me up to a less broken position than helpdesk. But I'm not holding my breath.

I've been to job "interviews" that were the manager telling me about the job and then asking if I wanted it. I've also been to interviews where I sat and talked to the interviewer for half an hour about myself and what I do in my spare time before they asked if I wanted it.

I like those ones best :D

what kind of helpdesk is it exactly? is it like a call center or just a place where you support the employees within the building?

No. "Interveiw" is a misspelling of "interview", but that doesn't mean "intreveiw", which is a misspelling of "interveiw" were it a real word, is the same as "interview".

I just had an interview like that. It was my 3rd interview for the job, and we (marketing VP & I) spoke about how he would hire girls from the college I attended as nannies.

This company is very different from the company I used to work (all behavioral interviews) for.

In-building support (mostly resetting people's logins and , I'm told) plus walk-in QUESTIONS about home systems. We can't touch them, we just have to answer the questions.
