The right to travel is nowhere in the text of the Constitution - it is an inferred right just like the right to abortion.

EDIT: And to be clear I'm big fans of both rights and think they are protected by the Constitution. Under the legal reasoning of the nutjobs who occupy the supreme court though, I'm not so sure.
I think interstate commerce would apply too. Not that this supreme court gives a shit about the constitution.

Ugh I have a male family member happily married to another man who has to live in Kansas because he's in the military and I fear wtf is going to happen to him when Kansas wingnuts criminalize homosexual relationships like Texas did until Lawrence vs Texas, which is specifically mentioned as a target of reversal by that treasonous fuck Uncle Thomas.

Next up.. no gay marriage.
step two.. arrests of gays for indecency
step three.. public executions of gays for worshiping the devil

Hope RBG is so fucking happy in her grave..

Obama gave her a chance to retire under him and replaced by a like minded judge. She said she wanted to make a statement by staying on the bench 30 years

Well now she has the biggest statement: dead & replaced by Trump's right wing judges!

RBG fucking sith lord!

The Democrats got destroyed in Virigina a year after the GOP literally tried to overthrow democracy and install a dictatorship. It's hopeless to think something like abortion will motivate Democrat voters to show up in an off year election.
Every election is different

What in the last 2 years has given you any reason to have faith in people in this country responding the right way to a crisis? People are stupid. They're just really really stupid.

Prediction: Planned Parenthood will be working with tribal authorities in every trigger-law state to establish facilities on reservation land.
I read something also about the biden administration potentially leasing federal land to abortion clinics so that state laws don't apply there or something or other. I'm sure smart people will figure out, but I have zero faith the electorate will get it right and actually change their behavior.

I'm pretty certain >6 years ago the consensus on this forum was that no-one would ever seriously go after RvW, but here you are. I don't think anyone would have predicted that the SC would throw established precedent under the bus when it suited them. Now I think you have to ask yourselves, now they've crossed this line, why won't they cross others?

They'll cross others. I just don't think interracial marriage will be one of them.

But if Donald Trump becomes our facist dictator, then I suppose all bets are off.

PS: it should also be pointed out that Clarence Thomas, the one who wants to ban birth control and put us back into th 19th century, is IN an interracial marriage.

A deep dark part of me really wants blue states to ensure their abortion clinics give preferential access to state residents over out of staters.

This is going to absolutely brutalize poor red staters, but the rich ones will just hop on a plane to take their teenage daughter "shopping" in SF or LA or NY or wherever for their secret "my abortion is the only moral one" bullshit.

The only way there is a sea change against this is if it affects the upper echelons of red-state voters & politicians.

I want to see what happens when Loving decision is challenged. Maybe this is just Thomas' long play to get a state-require divorce from his seditious wife and not have to pay alimony? it would be the gold standard in FYGM from a republican.

Personally I am pro-abortion, but constitutionally is was always weak. Nobody ever passed a law saying abortion is legal. The courts decided that women had a right to the same medical privacy that men did, which would also include abortion.;

And its already been pointed out MANY times, but if there were a medical procedure that only men could get, and the government tried blocking it, you damn well better believe there would be guns and torches on the fucking white house lawn and all over D.C.

It's a right of citizenship of the United States. If that is not the case, then the constitution has no jurisdiction in any state, and it is meaningless.

Again, how? They cannot enforce their abortion laws over state lines. Residency is meaningless. States such as Idaho can't prosecute or arrest it's residence for going over to Washington and smoking weed, as it's a legal in that state.
You are correct as long as the woman doesn't return to the state. You are also forgetting states have allowed vigilante enforcement so the rules are now changed.

Good news, I'm predicting we're going to see just that very soon with today's ruling and future rulings coming soon.

Wonder how gung ho red states will go the trigger laws? Like they are cheering with the decision becoming official. But now if they go batshit crazy and complete ban and start to go after gay marriage, they have screwed themselves in November
They are not that dumb. The first prosecutions will commence after the election
