Still no phones and only generator power but the net is amazingly up!!! Now that's what I call prioritizing.

I'm 27 miles north of New Orleans.

It does look like a war zone.

did you go outside during the storm?

Yes I did but in an alcove. I wanted to show my teen the sound the storm made. Our shelter was so secure you couldn't hear the fury but you could see it.

What was it like?

I watched 80 ft pine trees literally explode! Vertical sheets of rain....roaring wind...it was the total hurican experience.

thats the thing. If i could gaurantee my saftey or atleast as much percent as i would get from jumping out of a plane sky diving it would be awesome to be in that hurricane. That would be quite the experience. Of course i know its not since you know..you can die..and have your freinds die...overall...badness.

damn where the heck are u that you are so damn prepared.

Don't tell too many people you have working water and a generator because from what I hear people are being pretty nasty about not having supplies and there is no where for people to get them. Esp. with all of these people looting and shooting at people. Glad to hear you are ok and be careful now that you made it through the storm itself.

I run a juvenile detention center. We can't evac...won't evac....we're ready for the next 30 days all on our own. Even if the natural gas goes out, we have 30 days of propane for the generators.

must've been one helluva experience. how did your house fare the storm? any severe damages?

edit: nevermind you answered in your previous post

good to see you're alive.

watch for angry mobs coming from the south!

a friend of mine was on Grand Cayman when Hurricane Ivan HAMMERED the island. he said it was the most intense and frightening sight he had ever seen in his life.

Thanks. Breaking in here would be akin to breaking INTO jail, lol. We don't let just anyone in. Bulletproof glass in the control centers etc.

Good point though.
