Rode in an SVT Focus yesterday....

This guy has the 2nd SVT focus in the nation (Manager of SVT has the first) and it is pretty slick.

They plan to revamp it from 180bHP to 280!!!

280 Horses in this little car felt like a freaking go-cart! So nice, so fast, and so cheap! ~20K

But god damn, after second gear, this thing just rips up ne rice I've seen.

Oh, and he got this car basically from his dad. His dad is some Ford test driver and pulled some strings. He has an SVT contour, a 2002 Rouch modded T-bird and another car that I can't remember right now

There is a such thing as an SVT Ford Focus, so maybe you could do a little research B4 calling BS on someone.

Also, the European hi-po versions already have 200+ But a atock SVT Focus only has 170HP, so I assume that the above was a typo?:Q

Dude said they are planning on changing it. The whole kit costs 6000-7000

And trust me, this thing was pumping out at least 250 man. Took it on a road and hit 60 in under 7 (estimate)

It's an estimate like i said, I wasn't paying attn that much, but I took note of the RPM's from 1-2 gear, 7100 RPM.

You know I think the focus could be made allot more appealing with some after-market add-ons like a ground effects package. Not so much with the hatch back, but with the notch-back.

I've heard nothing but great things about the Focus in magizines, but everybody I talk to that owns one says they have had nothing but problems.

I'll call your bluff, after doing some research (read: talking to a friend on Team Mustang). The SVT Focus has not had job #1 yet, meaning that one has not been made, meaning that the two cars you refer to do not exist. They could be prototypes that SVT made up to show what the car will look like, but there is no SVT Focus yet.

perry, there's a Focus out there that's pushing close to 300HP, a magazine (R&amp;T Maybe...) even pitted it against a Vette. This might be what he's talking about - not sure though. All I know is there's at least 1 out there

Considering SVT's site says its a 2002 car, unless Ford expects only to make about 10 of them, it's a little bit late to have not yet starting producing them.

but 280hp in a relatively mass-produced (i.e. more than 50 or somehing) SVT Focus ? no way
