I wasnt going to dare trying to go "off topic" from the election, but I had to ask about this. I'm only 18, and have never seen this show, or is it a movie? I have no idea. what's it about, why was it so popular, etc? VH1 is doing some special on it, but its almost over (i think)...

Its a movie and a show.
Take a look at this site Rocky Horror

Richard O'Brien ( a New Zealander ) wrote the original Rocky Horror Show play, adapted it for the screen, and played Riff-Raff in both

I saw the show about 12 years ago, I liked it.

It developed a cult following, for what reason I am not sure.

The thing that I remember most about it was our former Prime Minister playing the role of the Narrator, right down to the fish net stockings, he didnt really have the legs for the role :Q

It's a cult classic. I've seen it more times than Star Wars.
Typically the show is not on the screen, but in the audience.
Quite a spectacle. You should try it...

In a theatre though - one that runs it every week. I'm sure there's still some around.

Get it on DVD if you can't get to a theater showing it...it's not the same, but it's still pretty great. LOVE the movie. I probably watch it once a month or more.

Woo Hoo Finally a kewl topic :) ... Rocky Horror Picture show is the bomb .... but its especially awesome if seen in a theater ... Raleigh, NC has the second best showing in the US ... it rocks ... From the time I was 18 till the time I was 21 we saw it every friday night at the Rialto ... The main thing that makes it so kewl is the audience participation. For anyone who has ever been to see Rocky in a theater knows what I'm talking about ... and they know what I mean by the underwear run ;)

It's a happening! I first saw it in 76. Must have seen it 20 times since then, about 10 times in the theater. A toast! I posted a link to the whole script some time ago. The soundtrack is excellent. :)

They haven't had midnight showings around here ina decade.:( I used to know the lines and now it's all rusty. Watching it on VH-1 strips the best part out (other than the nudity), which is the audience participation. I didn't have the slightest idea of what the heck the movie was about until my thrid or fourth time, when the crowd was kind of subdued. Without the call-and-response, it's rather dull, so...

GET THE DVD!!!

They have a bunch of alternate audio tracks including a crowd yelling. It's not the same, but it's a cool taste of the madness.

Rocky Horror Picture Show is cool as hell with the proper audience participation which is getting hard to find. I used to go every saturday for about three years.

I cant imagine having never had the opportunity to see it in a live theater .. it is so kewl .. I think they even did a broadway musical ... The audience calls tend to change from theater to theater ... each audience tends to make up them and then they stick with them ... Its neat .. there is alot of material to work with ... My friends and I used to hang out with the cast (who acted it out infront of the screen as it played .. some of the best parties I've ever been to ... from what I remember of them ... lol

This is definitely one of the movies that I try to get friends to avoid watching until they have a chance to see it in the theatre with full audience participation. As a movie, it has its moments, but the full effect requires massive amounts of audience members yelling back at the screen, cards, and water pistols. :)
