When Dixon's managers are in Rocky's restaurant pitching the idea of a fight to him and the one manager says "Imagine Dixon met this bastard in his prime? Kill him"

Was he saying Rocky would kill Dixon or Dixon would kill Rocky?

Thread from 2009. Somehow I doubt the OP still cares.

First time I watched it, I thought they meant Dixon would kill Rocky. I've seen it a couple of times since then, I'm not sure anymore. I don't think Dixon's managers think very highly of him.

I think they meant that Balboa would smash Dixon. Throughout the course of the movie, most of the characters like the sportscasters and the boxing pundits say Dixon's fought cans his entire career.

And it's not great, but it's not as bad as Rocky V on the crapola meter.

They meant Rocky would kill Dixon. It's apparent when the manager says, "imagine if Dixon met him in his PRIME", obviously meaning instead of now, because Dixon would kill him now. By saying in his prime he's basically saying it would be an entirely different outcome.
