In this one, he should barely win, then die from a heart attack as the crowd cheers his victory.

yeh, he's like 60 years old, but damn, he's in great shape for his age.

Roids. His balls are probably no larger than two green peas.

First case of someone's prostate being bigger than their testes? Pics?

Pics?? Er...

By the decade's close, however, audiences seemed to have tired of the character. "Rocky V," released in 1990, made only $40 million.

More like it made only $40 million because it sucked ass!

Rocky IV... FTW!!!

wow, 20 years since Rocky IV?!

i'm OLD

Rocky V was the last one, and that was, if I recall, 1990, so it's actually been 15 years since the last movie. I suspect that by the time the new one comes out (still can't believe they're gonna make it, Rocky V was a good ending) it will be 17 years.

Yikes.

i know, but i was just reminded of seeing Rocky IV in the theatres with my younger brother TWENTY YEARS AGO!! 😀 lol!!

audiences must have been cheesier back then, because i remember everyone CHEERING AND CLAPPING when Rocky started coming back at the end of the fight!!

"I must break you." lol!

LOL, that's true. I think that's one of the reasons why Rocky's always been a success; it appeals to the part of you that wants the guy who's taken a beating get back up, against the odds, and manage to come out on top. It's a simple formula, really, and it works well. For the most part, all 5 Rocky movies are the same movie. For that matter, so are the Karate Kid movies (same director as Rocky I and V), not to mention countless others.

While it may seem cliche now, the original was really one of the first to really *nail* the concept well, and as trite as the sequels seem, they do manage to capture that same concept and hope as the original did. I'm not sure that audiences are interested in a Rocky 6, but...maybe.

In any case, we can look forward to walking into a good movie with a rousing story that we've already seen at *least* 5 times before we ever step into the theatre for Rocky 6.

No way, man, V was very good! IV was a bit cheesier because of the cold war sub-theme, but V was really well done 🙂

Me thinks the Eye of the Tiger has to be getting Glaucoma and Cateracts by now. Stallone in geezin' man.

*shrugs* I've been a Rocky fan for as long as I can remember. The Rocky 6 talks have been going on for some time now, so it was only a matter of time, I suppose. You have to think this is probably the last one, though (then again, we said that for Rocky V, didn't we?).

And for 15 years we were right, LOL 🙂 I could see this movie going either way at the box office, honestly. Given that lately all we seem to be getting are endless remakes of remakes, maybe there's a market for something which, at the least, appeals to some of the best parts of human nature 🙂

Of course, maybe not. It'll be interesting to find out 🙂

I think they will probably be cheering for him to get broken this time......times have changed

I had always thought the next one would be his son fighting (since his son was in every one they did after he was born), but I guess that went by the wayside.
