Rockies extend winnings to grieving widow

Manager Clint Hurdle revealed today that the players, of their own accord, voted a playoff share to Amanda Coolbaugh, the widow of Tulsa Drillers coach Mike Coolbaugh.

If the team goes on to win the world series, the share could be as much as $362,000.

Indeed. For the last few years it seems like the team that comes into the playoffs on a roll are the ones that are winning it all. Rockies are on fire right now. For pete's sake Kaz Matsui hit a grand slam. Big ups to the Rockies players for this gesture.

Not that I needed any more of a reason to root for the Rockies but this is one, that's very classy.

That money will go a long way towards those kids college education and upbringing. I mean, the widow is pregnant and she has a 5 and 2 year-old. And it's not like a minor league first base coach gets paid a lot so I doubt she has money stashed.
