Rockband vs Rockband 2 Instruments

RB2 instruments are wireless. RB2 drums are quite improved and have better padding for more bounce and less noise. The guitar didn't change much except the strum bar is a bit less 'mushy' in RB2.

The "RB2 instruments are wireless" statement is reaching a bit. RB1 guitars were wireless. RB1 drums are wired, RB2 is wireless. Microphone is wired in both versions

The Xbox 360 RB1 guitar was wired, at least originally. I bought my RB1 set on release day November 20th 2007 and that came with one wired guitar. I don't know if they changed the bundle later.

I do know that they offered (sold separately) a wireless version of the RB guitar about six month after RB1 came out.

The PS3 version may have been different, I don't remember.

Yea the RB1 guitars were wired.

My RB2 drums have been holding up real well and when I play I seriously whack these things. I play almost every day too. The only problem I have found is that my red pad has like an "air bubble" in it. I'm not quite sure how it got there, but it doesn't really affect my play because I hit the drums so hard. I think if I played soft it might not register some of my hits. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem.

My only other complaint would be that my drumsticks are seriously falling apart. I'm going to have to go buy some new sticks soon.

ps3 launch guitar was wireless! xbox was not, but the individual guitar pack was... however RB and GH equipment I believe is interchangeable on the xbox and it is not at all on the PS3 which explains my 5 guitars....

Is the mushiness of the strum how its supposed to be? Or is this defective. I am having a tough time playing anything with any closely packed notes.

Also is it supposed to come with a USB hub?

The original 'mushiness' wasn't a flaw, I actually prefer it to the stupid 'click click click' of the GH controllers. Those drive me nuts.

The USB hub was included in the original RB1 pack (for 360 at least).

It's not fully interchangeable. The latest of each (GH:WT and RB2) are fully interchangeable, but the RB guitars don't work on GH3 and before on the 360.

It is supposed to be mushy. I've gotten used to it, but I still prefer the GH guitars.

Ok, I got the PS3 version that had wireless guitar in RB1, didn't know the xbox was different.

Refresh my memory, was that wireless via a dongle? I remember GH3's Les Paul was that way for PS3.

RB2 instruments use dongles or BT?

Dongles for the PS3, infared for the 360.
They're using RF for the 360, not IR. IR is line of sight, and the 360 doesn't have proper support for IR controllers anyways, IIRC (just remotes!).

Another thing to note is that RB2 guitars have a small built in microphone and light sensor that are used for auto-calibration. This was the main reason I bought a RB2 guitar even though I already have 2 RB1 guitars.
