I was wondering in your opinion which system should I get for Rockband 2? The PS3 or the 360, specifically when we're talking about the downloadable content policy for each company Sony vs. Microsoft. I can easily see myself spending a large sum of money on individual songs for this game, and I don't want to have something like my hard drive die and not being able to access the songs I purchased. Also does either system allow you to back-up your hard drive? Any help would be appreciated.

Hard drive dying should not be a problem with the 360 as you can redownload any DLC you've already bought.

With the 360 the downloads are tied to your account, and not your system, so if you change hard drives or something happens you can redownload what you already purchased. I'm not sure about the PS3 side of things.

Playstation Store downloads are also linked to your account, so you may re-download content you've already purchased. In fact, Sony's terms state that you may download your purchased content on up to 5 systems that you own; I guess they track downloads by MAC address of your console? What this means is that you can share DLC with friends -- for example, log into a friend's account on your PS3, download content that he/she purchased, and now you may play that content on your console. Of course this would count against your friend's 5 allowed downloads.
