Rock radio morning shows/zoos - love 'em or hate 'em?

Was curious how many people love or hate the typical rock radio morning show/ morning zoo.

I listen to classical mostly.

If I want a zoo, I can go to one right in Boston and see proper animals.

Depends. I usually don't mind morning shows if they are good.
Problem being that there are alot of them that aren't very good.

I listen to one now thats usually pretty good. But every so often
it sucks. But on the whole I usually get a good laugh out of them.

Edit: They station I listen to, does play a fair amount of
music. So its not all talking.

I like hearing Mancow in the morning. Lots of funny stuff to get me in a good mood for the day.

There's only one here in Birmingham I listen to sometimes. They're actually pretty funny at times. I can't STAND the larger morning shows that are syndicated though. Talk about impersonal. I mostly listen to CDs or the local sports station on my commute.

I can't stand them. They're usually a pair of middle-aged unfunny dorks, and they always refer to themselves by their first name pairs. Bob & Tom, Tim & Mark, Dave & Steve, etc. They always have a "crazy" team member who has a corny catch-name (Chick, Hollywood Bob, The Chicken, etc.) And they always have a stupid thing they do frequently where everyone in the room screams the title. "It's time once again for 'WHO'S THAT STUPID!!!!'" <gag>

[EDIT]: Also, they have stupid names for their show. Crazy Morning Zoo, Morning Sickness (yes, that's what ours in Phoenix is called). And they have a female team member that just laughs at everything, and makes stupid comments.

i hate morning shows. even the one hosted by my favorite station, K-ROCK 92.3 New York. Howard Stern just keeps on talking and talking. put some hard rock music on already, wake people up. raise some hell.

Why do they call them Zoos, that's the stupidest name. I won't listen to a radio show if it's called a zoo.

Agreed. I listen to Howard on my 15 min drive to work. Only because NO morning crew plays music anymore. If I have to listen to talking, I choose Howard. At least he's funny. He's a different breed than the mediocre local guys.

We used to have a really good local show around here, but that ended 1-2 years back :(

Now I just listen to cds and stuff.

lol, this reminded me of the david cross cd. its something like: "radio morning guys are the worst. if i got bit by a shark, i had to lay there in pain, id do it. but if thne 2 radio guys came in to interview me, id shoot myself. its always 2 guys, and one of them is the KA-RAZY one, and the other one is named after an animal, like THE BEAR, or THE COOTER. and they are always wearing hawaiin shirts and weigh like 300 lbs. and you can tell they just did a pound of 4 hours ago.". im summarizing a little, but its a funny bit, even does voices and everything.

i find myself listening to one show for a few years now, and now that i have a longer commute in the morning, i listen to more of the show and enjoy it very much. its dave shelly and chainsaw, but if i had to listen to anything else, id just put in a cd.

the thing that bugs me the most abotu them is the inane, fake laughter they force out of their big heaving bellies after every lame joke.

something like 'MWHAHWHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA".......SO THEN I WENT TO THE NURSE AND I WAS LIKE 'HEY BABY'......'MWHHWHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA'

It's a formula format--a gimmick that worked in one market, so Clear Channel or whoever copied it for all their other stations.

I like Mancow. I hate his views on EVERYTHING, but the show is just too funny sometimes.
