both the PS3 and PS2 versions will be wireless, while Xbox 360 version remains wired (although a wireless guitar will be released at a later date)

sweet, I already had it preordered with $25 down at the local gamestop here on campus, and this news is great to me because I was expected the $199 price tag. That's $30 I get to keep, however, it will surely go right into DLC, as I am betting each downloadable album is going to run $15-20 considering development time for each song. however, a surprise of $10/album would be awesome!
 
Wow, at that price, I definitely would get the 360 version if not for the wired BS. I already have 2 wired GH2 guitars, I sure as hell do not need any more. Microsoft really needs to guit being dicks about their wireless protocol and just let people use it for free.

funny thing is, Guitar Hero 3's X360 guitar will be wireless from the get-go, available later this month when the game comes out.

So you're really getting 3 controllers and a game. Not too bad.

I think the singing part is going to suck and the drums look wicked awesome but too much of a hassle to use regularly.

The wireless 360 guitars aren't coming at "a later date" they are released day and date with the game. They are just more than the ps3 guitars

pre-order at a gamestop. my gamestop said they are really only ordering in the number they have pre-ordered, due to the sheer size of each kit. makes sense. plus they might have an extra box or two and a few copies of the game itself.
if it does indeed come out on black friday, i may not be picking it up that day though, as I won't be in columbus and my ps3 will likely be staying here as well while I go home and visit family and friends. i hope they bring it out earlier too, because the next week will be either the last or second to last week of regular classes, which means it's gonna be crunch time for final papers and other fun stuff before finals. not muhc play time. 🙁

Ya you can use GH guitars but the Rock Band guitars have a set of frets at the bottom of the fret board for tapping.

I hope the song charts are good. I just heard a podcast from scorehero and they were ripping them but they are probably just Guitar Hero fan boys.

well the idea of the game does take away the originally guitar-centric music choices, especially due to the inclusion of vocals. this will remove the possibility of those real heavy songs that have been in guitar hero's of past. but I think the numbers of DLC they are talking will set my mind off of that, with the possibility of some insanely great songs being added at a later time.

For real. Although I guess they COULD do it the same way wireless controllers have been done in every past console generation. Meh.

I have no interest in the microphone. I wonder how much it'll be for just a guitar and a drum set.

Edit: nevermind, gotta read the thread... guess I'll get the whole shebang.

RE: Black Friday - the crowds usually aren't too bad after 6 p.m. The deal freaks are all done by then. I've gone out late on Black Friday twice (got a $499 laptop at 9 p.m once 🙂), and there weren't long lines.

i do believe that's the point. but if you knew from the start you were going to focus on 1 instrument, you wouldn't need to buy the others.

Yeah I'm not worried. The song list so far is great and if they deliver on the "dlc every week' promise that will be just insane.

I don't know what I want to get... to be honest, I'm kind of tired of wires, but those damn achievements have me coming back again and again 🙁.

No, but you can just buy the game itself and the guitar, however that won't be cost effective.

Game ($60) + Wireless Guitar ($80) = $140
vs.
Rock Band Bundle ($170); where you get the game, a microphone, the drum set, and a wired guitar.
 
Darn, this means I have to buy it on Black Friday while I'm in Pennsylvania with family. How inconvenient. I guess I'll just have to cram everything on top of my roadie in his car.

By car, I mean my back seat. And by roadie, I mean our Bengal cat.
