Rock band... pc?

Rock band, ever coming to the PC? If GH3 did, why not rock band?

I mean think about it. Are you going to have several people playing on a computer monitor/in a computer room?

GH3 was a half-assed port from what I saw in the reviews and as dlock13 already pointed out, how are 4 people supposed to play drums, guitar, bass and sing clustered around even a huge (by PC standards) 24" monitor. You'd be hard pressed to see anything and the drummer would be getting a guitar headstock in his ear half the time.

Considering a modern PC can be hooked into any modern HDTV and HT audio system like modern consoles, I do not see how that would be a problem.... unless you keep your 50" HDTV / HT audio system in your computer / war room?

...I won't argue with your last point, I agree that the audience is probably small. But what equipment and know how do you need? Don't you just need an HDMI/DVI cable and the same audio cables you used to hook the sound system up? I don't think that part would slow anyone down.

I think by virtue of needing a large amount of space for setup and play the PC would have a sliver of an audience for this, as you'd either have to be willing to lug your PC around, build a custom media center machine that was beefy enough for the task, or buy some long cables to go from your computer room to the living room.

Look at it from Harmonix/EA/MTV's viewpoint: How many Xbox 360s, PS2s, PS3s, and Wiis are out there who can play Rock Band? Now how many people have home theater PCs hooked to TVs? There are over 150 million consoles meaning that many potential customers. Even if there were 50,000 HTPC owners out there to potentially play it, how many would actually buy it? What fraction? Considering most of those people would likely own a console of some flavor, why spend the scratch coding a port when you can ignore it and stick to a proven money maker?
