Got a Roomba Scheduler a couple of weeks ago... best invention ever!

Simply amazing how much dirt it picks up.

I have stained concrete floors... so no. I dust/wet mopped.

My wife and I resealed the floors a couple of weeks ago, so you would think they are relatively clean, but this thing still picking up quite a lot that you just don't see. Consequently, my dust level in the house has gone down as well.

I have hardwood floors and kids with crackers. The roomba loves crackers too.

I think they normally go for about $350 or so, but I got a factory refurbished one at Amazon for $179.

I went with the refurbished one because I had never seen one work, and would feel more comfortable with a $179 paperweight than a $350 dollar one if it didn't work well.

Had it for a couple of weeks now, and it works great!

I would say carpet gives it about 25-30% of the battery life that it would have on just hard surfaces. Its not a vacuum replacement, just helps maintain a clean floor.

My wife loves hers. It is a great compliment to a periodic vacuuming with a regular vacuum. Also, they are really just great fun to watch.

Hmmmm...

Do they work well with pet hair? I'd love to just let this thing run around all day sweeping up dog hair on my hardwood floors.

Also, can they pass over the thin metal thresholds between rooms?

yes and yes

We have a large dog, and it picks up her hair really well. It gets over barriers, area rugs, etc. really well. Every now and then it will get stuck on one of the central air vents in the floor.

Next question....how does the dog like it?

My dog is a freaking wuss and runs away from kittens that want to play with her. She'll probably develop some kind of anxiety thinking that the roomba is coming after her.

:D

She is really wary of it, but generally doesn't go psycho or anything. In other words, she pays close attention to where it is, and moves when it gets close to her.

I've got a Jack Russell and a Boxer... they're both kind of oblivious to it. Unless it is coming right at them.

As far as the pet hair goes, it has literally removed all of the pet hair from the area rugs in the house.

My dogs...

Oh sure...it's all fun and games and the Roomba is "ooohhhh so cute". The next think you know, you've got Tom Selleck busting down your door because your Roomba is trying to murder your family!
