Trying to figure the name of a voltron like toy my cousin had when we were young. Mid 80's. 3 piece metal robot that consisted of a lion (realistic looking) shot darts from his mouth, a robot and another figure I can't remember. The lions head folded down and the robot guy fit in his back and the lion was standing on his hind legs. any ideas? Thanks.

I know exactly what you're talking about... I can even see it in my mind... I just can't remember for the life of me what it was called....

It probably was a Voltron. There were three different seasons shown in the US, and three different Voltron robots. I think that the third season one had a Lion as part of it. I only have (had? I dunno where they went) the robot from the first season. (The cars/trucks one.)

That reminds me, I had a dream the other night, I was playing with my Legos. I miss those things, where did those run off to too. :(

The 2nd was three humanoid robots that formed into Voltron (I think). They were by far the least popular.

Same here. Never heard of that other one. The lions one was by far the best. I'd still watch that show if it was on. TOo bad it's not on cartoon network or something....

Gladiator Voltron (Voltron of the Middle Universe)

There were plans for yet another Voltron, which would have been based on the series Albegas. This one would have been three smaller humanoid robots that combined to form one larger robot. Due to the strong popularity of the Lion Voltron and the unenthusiastic response to the Vehicle Voltron, World Events Productions, the St. Louis, Missouri-based company who owns the rights for both Voltron series, ultimately decided against another alternate Voltron series. It did see a limited toy release as Voltron II (Voltron I being the Vehicle Voltron and Voltron III being the Lion version).

whoa, that brings back memories.

voltron was too pricey so i got this cheap knockoff for xmas when i was a kid.

It actually wasn't cheap, even back then. It was about 40 bucks in the 80's, so call it over a hundred now.

They go for about 300 bucks on ebay :)

Edit: not a voltron knockoff, it's a totally different toy line from japan :)
