Robot Entertainment, formed by the remnants of the now defunct Ensemble Studios (known for creating Age of Empires and Halo Wars under the Microsoft Game Studios brand), have revealed their first new game as an independent developer. Orcs Must Die! is a fantasy action/strategy game that tasks the player with defending their castle as it comes under siege from hordes of the green fiends. Use a variety of weapons, spells, and traps to annihilate the orc invaders when the game is released as a digital download for PC and consoles this summer

Hmm, while I'm a great fan of the Age of Empires series, this game looks like a WoW clone. Down the art style.

Ensemble's last great game was Age of Empires II (arguably Age of Mythology for the new ideas, but the simplification of their games really started there), I have no more faith in them as developers to make a good game.

It's neither an mmo or an rpg... but it's a WoW clone? The only thing similiar is the art style...

I don't see how it's a wow clone either. I see significant similarity in the art, but that's the end of it - this looks more like a first person League of Legends than anything else to me.

The traps appear to be the only real gameplay innovation (and they might not be much of an innovation).

not another tower defense game....

If it's TD, it's first person TD.

oooo, sounds like the old classic "Siege". Definitely something I will be interested in.

edit: okay, just watched the trailer and it's nothing like Siege, but it still looks cool.

I'm just really hankering for a good historical RTS. You can only play EE or AoE so many times before they feel stale. 😛
