Robert Jordan

pontifex

Lifer
I just read that Robert Jordan is terminally ill.

here is a link to a letter he wrote to a magazine about his illness.

Robert Jordan is probably best known as the author of the Wheel of Time series and many Conan novels.

If he lived to be 200 years old, he still wouldn't finish that damn series. It is the true neverending story.

lol. My boyfriend and I went to visit a friend of his in Charleston last summer and he told me that he wants to go to Robert Jordan's house and throw eggs at it as paypack for him not finishing the series.

I haven't read the latest, but he's claimed that there will be only one more book, which I suppose we should see in 4 years unless he gives up writing to focus on other things (who would blame him with 4 years to live?).

Sad story, I liked the books when I was younger but the later ones in the series were terrible. Apparently the newest is pretty good, I might pick it up at some point.

UM he doesn't have 4 years to live....that's the median, did you read the article you posted?

no i didn't read it, i read what someone else had posted in another forum. thats where i found this info. i'm sure you've never made a mistake in your life, right?

I gave up on WoT many years ago (still can't believe it isn't finished yet!), but I don't wish his fate on anyone. However, there is a certain irony.

He would have had one of the best fantasy series out there if he had finished after about 4-5 books. Now, he's just pissed everyone off in his profit mongering.

Best wishes to him in his therapy though.

This is why I'm glad King finished his Dark Tower series when he did. It may have not been the best ending, but I would have been hella-pissed if he died with it wide open.

That has always been the problem with series of books. Imagine the international incident if something were to happen to Rowling before she completes HP.......

BTW, I got tired of WoT with the lastest book. At least I think it was the latest. Nothing happened. They just walked and talked and the book ended and I was pissed? I can't really remember I must have blocked it out.

He's said that if he wrote out every one of the ideas in his head right now, he'd have to survive til damn near 90 to do it.

I do believe he's also said that if he dies before he can finish the series his wife will do it, because she's the only person he's given the ending to. Probably won't be as good as if he did it, but it'd still be an ending.

The first 7 books were pretty good. After that it really went downhill. I havent read any of his new ones yet. When he dies ill probably fire up the series again.

Being a masochist, I read till Heart of Winter when I just quit out of bordom. NOTHINGS HAPPENED in several books. If he's a got of ideas, he sure ain't putting them on paper.
