For those who don't lnow, Robert E. Howard is the creator of Conan the Barbarian (as well as some other fantasy characters).
I've been reading some Conan books lately and in the beginning of some of them, the author goes into a little biography of Robert E. Howard. He only had a few Conan books published while he was alive but had many written or parts of them written and other authors took over. Robert Jordan was one of those authors.
He was fascinated by suicide at an early age and stated that he would die before his mother. When he was 30, his mother became terminally ill. Upon hearing this, he went out to his car and shot himself in the head. He wasn't kidding about dying before his mother.

It sucks that we had to lose such a great writer to something as stupid as that.
