robbed at work today

helping out a work mate this week with a finishing processes course he's running. we set it up at a local hotel.

yesterday we left early at 2pm for a trip round the beam mill (steel works) and explicitly told staff to lock the conference room since the laptop projector and speakers were in there.

came in this morning and the laptop was gone! at some point between 2pm yesterday and 9pm today the room was not locked and the laptop went walkies. they have been able to see nothing on the CCTV which pretty much covers the main entrances to the room, except the firedoor...which was locked and only able to be opened from inside the conference room

funny thing is, the laptop was about 5-6 year old and the projector sat next to it (capable of 1080i) was worth a hell of a lot more yet that was left untouched. criminals are dumb

that laptops worth like £100 if that.... the projector is easily £300 if not more

and whats more its a works laptop, so its got a password, and then its pretty much locked down by the computer guys

It's easier to hide a laptop under your shirt or something. It'd be much harder to hide a projector.

Seriously though, this reeks of an inside job. Projector is too bulky, laptop can easily fit under a shirt or jacket. They were told to lock it and didn't. Nothing on the camera, no forced entry. I would raise hell w the hotel manager.

well police came today to check things out. not much use like since theres been lots of activity in the conference room.

they are still checking the cctv

i cant believe they cant find anyone. there were literally 2 ways in and out of the room, both of which are covered by CCTV, ill be it was the cleaner, or night porter. easy to hide a lappy in a cleaning trolley
