Currentley have an MSI k8n neo2 nf3 mobo with the 1.8 bios revision running a winchester 3200+, in an antec 3700BQE, 2 rear exhaust (1 120mm and 1 pci), 2x 80mm(1 antec side, 1 blue led in front) And an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 heatsink. Oddly, The bios is getting quite funkay in terms of stability and the temperture. It is summer, but airflow is pretty adaquate; my system just recenetley started acting up.
Normally stock:
idle 28c-32c
Load 39c- 40c
(oced to 2.6)
Idle 36-38c
Load 46c-48c
and now...
(Stock)
idle 55c- 56c
load 60c-67c
A few notes,no fans are broken, and during usage, the tempetures have been constantly low as per before but about a day or two ago. Same thing with the bios. booted on the other day low thirties, but now i cant get it below 55 nomatter how little I've open. Any ideas? Reseat the heatsink, get cables out of the way? the innards have not been touched in months and it ran cooler by a lot any help is apprceated.

Did you recently just update the Bios??? I had some funky teps with the 1.8 bios and I flashed back to 1.41mod then back to 1.8 and now I have very consistent temps....

The only way I see real idle temps at 55c with the case cooling you are explaining is your room woul have to be in the upper 40's C or 104f degrees...i doubt that...

Check to see if the heatsink is warm to the touch...If not it is likely bad reporting or that the heatsink may not be making good contact...have you moved the pC recently for something thta may have jarred the HSF and cause it to not be making good contact now??? I would reattach the hSF and place some new paste on it as well....

How is fan speed?? RPM still seem normal to what they were???

Bios was upgraded about... 2-3 weeks ago and was reporting nothing over 49. ambient in here is.. about 75 pretty humid. I touched the heatsink, cool to the touch, fan opperating and regestering in at 2280 rpms. Sadly, I have no more paste and the closest I can get withut the egg (idealy as5) is some crappy stuff from best buy or staples.. Everything is as it was, but it doe not like to tell temps that are right, even at the heatsink base, cool to the touch.

Are you just looking at the Bios or are you looking at some software app??? Try app called S&M or just speedfan...They report well on mine and I am currebtly running bios 1.8......I dont actually look at the temps in the bios much anyways....

A cool base could be a perfect sign of bad contact....I am using some white paste that came with my HSF and I have nice temps..AS5 is not the end all, trust me...

I used the paste that came with my rig also, worked fine, and might have to reseat, I do not have any more. Actually, the temp readings I am getting are congruent, within the bios and with speedfan. mbm5 was too flaky for my liking.I'll reseat it and see.

Definitely reseat then.....maybe the cheapo paste dried out or is going bad....My stuff has same idle temps I have had since Nov 04.....I am very happy...My load temps seem about 2c higher buit I dont know if that is a bios difference from 1.41mod.....
