Bah. It's also saying Comcast has upped it's speed also, which is not true. They did double their upload speed from 128kbps to 25kbps, but you still cannot download anything faster than 180kbps. They have a cap on download transfer rates. You can go to speeds sites and test your connection, which will be like 1000kbps, but you can't actually download anywhere near that. I'm happy with what I get for the most part..but I think it's a bit of false advertising.

I think you get that wrong, if you're downloading at 180kbps that means you're only downloading at the speed of 25KB/S. I used comcast and I got about 180KB download speed at most of the time. which then equal to their advertised speed 1.5Mbps. Pay attention to the KB an kbps. 1KB = 8kbps

yeah, i usually pull 1.7mbit/sec (~ 212kbyte/sec) download with comcast, even though my cap is technically 1.5mbit/sec. upload is max 32kbyte/sec or 256kbit/sec.

i'm hopin it will be 3mbit soon though :)

Yeah, I have Comcast and I routinely get a little over 200k from good connections, plus whatever my roommate may be getting at that time as well.

I'm nearing the time where Verizon DSL is going away and Verizon telephone will be replaced with Vonage...

I can officially vouch for that. I download stuff ALL the time and over the past few weeks my download speed has gone from an average sustained high of 260 KB/sec up to ~350 KB/sec. It kicks ass!

Around here they're 2.0 and I get ~1.7x with overhead.

Edit: Still hasn't been upgraded to 3.0 here in Portland, OR.
