Friends and I are going on a road trip this summer, leaving from Sacramento, Ca probably around the middle of July and figure we want to escape the heat and head north. Obviously with a road trip the point is not where you go but what you do/happens along the way. So basically we are going to go ~900 miles straight up I5 and I'm looking for ideas as to what to do a long the way. Or possibly a more interesting/scenic route to take? If it takes us a few hours more to get there but we get to experience/see something cool along the way no problem. So throw me some ideas, we know that we are going to at least stop in Seattle but other than that not so sure.

Yeah that's what I figured about I5, having driven pretty much all of the California portion of I5, north and south it sucks. Thanks for the advice.

If you really want to cool off, head for the Olympic National Forest 100 miles west of Seattle on the peninsula. Nice and mossy over there. All the way around the tree...
