Spring Break is just around the corner and I'm starting to prepare for an awesome time. (Just like I bet many of you are doing also) I'm going to mexico with 3 girls (hehehehehehehehehehe :D) and I'd like to compile some really cool road trip cd's. I'm thinking aboutmaking maybe 5-6 cd's for the trip (pretty long drive) and I want to group them accroding to genre. I was thikning

Rock
Punk
Alternative
R&B
RAP
Misc/oldies

So guys could you name some cool songs I can put on these cd's according to music type? Remeber fun roadtrip songs are cool, and I'm riding with 3 girls so I suppose nothing to "hard"..... except me :p

Yo,
A wide variety is good, you need variety for a long road trip.

I'd call Golden Earring's "Radar Love" a classic driving song, even has driving in the lyrics.

Moving from the sublime to the ridiculous, there's the Talking Heads' "Road to Nowhere" which is how one feels when stuck in traffic, indeed.

You could be a total dork and start off the CD with "Holiday Road" by Lindsay Buckingham or "Moving Right Along" by The Muppets.

Blink 182- Damn it (good college song)
Dixie Chicks- Goodbye Earl and Sin Wagon (you are riding with chicks afterall)
Violent Femmes- Blister in the sun (once again, chicks in the car)
Ghetto Boys- Damn it feels good to be a gangster (maybe)
Incubus- Wish you were here
Jimi Hindrix- Purple Haze
Steve Miller Band- The Joker (and others)

Hope that helps.

lol, keep the songs coming. Doesnt neccesarily have to be a "road trip" song but maybe a song that really represents that genre

As the resident Parrothead on Anandtech (Jimmy Buffett fan for those sad, clueless individuals) I'll recommend the following Buffett tunes for when you get close to the beach and can SMELL the salt air:

-Cheeseburger in Paradise
-Changes in Latitudues . . .
-Margaritaville
-Why Don't we Get Drunk . . .

Buffett music IS beach music. Call it a cliche or whatever, but it DOES feel right when you're down there and it's great for putting you in the mood on the way down too. Naturally he's got a lot of other stuff, but I only listed the tunes most people know. Maybe mixing in a little Bob Marley too would be nice . . . 'Stir it Up,' 'Jamming,' 'No Woman No Cry,' 'Could You be Loved.' All good beach stuff.
