I just came back from seeing it and it was great. Worth every penny. Tom Hanks plays a great part again, everyone go see this! For people who seen this, did you like it?

That movie was great. All the rain on the wool coats and hats, the gunfire, and Jude Law's character was AMAZING. (His make-up/facial work was very well done too)

That movie was pretty graphic, very good.
it was OK. the movie just didnt have be believing. ok forgive me i dont remember the names but why did the old guy put his son in such a high position if he knew his son was a fvck up? the whole movie pivoted around that fact yet it didnt make much sense. and why did tom hanks kill everyone? is he really in a better position after that considering the old guy offered him a lot of money to go back to ireland or wherever. and the whole scene w/ the farm just didnt fit the movie. that scene was just put there so the movie would have an ending, it surved no other purpose and just plain didnt fit. imo tom hanks is overrated and this movie proves that wholeheartedly

Agreed. Tom Hanks played a "nice guy" in the movie which made you feel that he was a good person.

Great movie, I can honestly say it was one of the best movies I have seen in a while (probably this year).
i did not enjoy this movie at all..people hear tom hanks and they start creaming their pants screaming oscar oscar OSCAR....it desperately tries to be noir and fails horribly and the ending did not work with the atmosphere mendes was attempting to create

I disagree, the ending that was presented was the only possible ending for the movie, I'm not sure how I feel about the kid moving to the farm, but Tom hanks getting shot was the only way it could have happened.
mendes is trying to create noir with this film...look at the color, tone, and camera angles...i admit parts of the film is quite good at achieving this with the rain, overcoats with pulled up collars, and hats...but there's more than that in order to be successful in this genre....i'm not saying that hanks dying is incorrect, this has to happen, but he kills jude law and in a sense making him the good guy by redeeming his son from the task...that is not noir..things just don't fit together in this film...and if you really want to get picky, the bright colors and white in the last few minutes on the beach and farm don't match the rest of the film
movie sucked. too long, conventional, boring, nothing memorable and predictable. could have been special if mendes didn't play it so moody. his characters had zero depth. ditto with the story.
and mendes, dude, you a master with those hollywood cliches (i.e. the bag of loot left to the kind old couple by hank's character was a beautiful finger-down-the-throat moment). sweet.

I saw it Friday night and was not impressed... the whole movie was too predictable... it basically gave out the ending at the very beginning of the movie when the kid was talking...

You know Tom Hanks was going to get shot by Jude Law and die, so you end up waiting for it to happen... A lot of things dont really make sense too... Why did Tom Hanks went around and took everyone's money? Was it a way to force the old guy to give up his son (not likely)? And if Hanks was so smart throughout the movie, why did he go back to the Aunt's house in the end? He knew in earlier parts of the movie Law knew that's where they were going... Even if Hanks believed Law was no longer chasing after them, I still wouldnt have just walked into the house and stand in front of the window... at least check out the house first...

you answered your own quesiton in part. the only reason jude law's character was chasing hanks and kid was because
the hit had been put out by nitti to appease paul newman's character. with the newman dead, his (newman's) son dead,
and with nitti ok'ing the hit on newman's son by hanks, what is there for hanks to worry about ? why shouldn't hank believe
that nitti would reel in his assassin ?
as far as i could tell, nitti thought that all remnants from that mess should be eliminated, hence the killing of hanks (although
we are led to beleive the boy lived against nitti's original instinct to snuff out both father and son), or jude law acted as a lone
sociopathic wolf to avenge his earlier humiliations.
Wow, I haven't talked to anyone online yet who liked this movie. I was expecting a lot more out of it. Maybe if I read the book first...
