Around here they changed the name to AT&T. The service is very good over here. It's only been down once in the year and a half that I've had cable.

oh yeah - I thought of one annoyance. Every once in a while the email server is down. This happens about once a month. But other than that it's been hassle-free, compared to some of the horror stories I've heard from others with broadband.

I have Mediaone which is now Roadrunner I believe. I am in Eastern Massachusetts and have no real complaints. Email is flaky at times but overall they have been responsive to my problems. Occaisionally, I inform THEM that cable service is down! You would think they would know it before I called. Overall, its been fine.

I have had it for two years and only had a couple outages that lasted more than 20 minutes. I have only had about 10 outages that were less than 20 minutes and most of those were about 5 minutes.

I had it with Time Warner Cable in a part of San Diego. It wasn't bad, the customer wasn't as bad as @home (what I have now), but the speed also wasn't nearly as fast as I have now (@home).

So far so good. I have Verizon DSL which has recently stabilized for me but I still want to dump. They just started offering RR in NJ and I'm considering switching.

BTW: What software is added to your PC? Is it PPPoE or some kind of driver.

I think RR varies tremendously depending on your local provider, but I have had it for about a year and a half and have been quite pleased. I have Cox Cablevision in Norman, Oklahoma and it is excellent. The mail service has gone down a handful of times but they are normally able to service it while still leaving it operational, and I have never lost a message even during mail outages.

I have only had one outright service outage, and it lasted about 2 days (unfortunately those two days happened to coincide with the theft of my car, so it was painful not having service while stuck at home and wanting to research replacement vehicles).

I have had RR cable for almost 2 years now. For the most part it is very good. Ofcourse, I do have
some total outages and some pop server problems every once in a while...

<< What software is added to your PC? >>

Nothing is added to mine anymore. When I first signed up we had to load some log in software but they did away with that. Now all I have to do is plug in mu pc and go.

I am totally impressed and happy with RR in the Tampa Bay, Florida area.

Great service, very responsive tech support.

I can't say enough good things about RR really. Waited 62 days on Southwestern Hell.... err Bell DSL and it never came.

The company I work for has had a DSL outage for 8 days now. So, I convinced the manager to go with Road Runner. Called them today and they promised us a hookup next Tuesday. Road Runner business account at $89.95 per month. We pay $49.95 for residential.

Depends upon your local provider from what I gather. I've been down a total of five hours in the past year. Mail is sluggish at times, but still works OK.

We called Road Runner on a Sunday evening at 10 PM for installation and it was hooked up the following Saturday. There are real people in tech support. And you can do virtual tech support with them also.

You will be pleased. We couldn't be happier with the service.

I love it. I have it here in Atlanta (AT&T, formerly MediaOne) and it's great. I have outages every now and then, like today for instance -- something weird happened, some websites were fine, the POP/SMTP servers were fine, the NNTP server was down, and some websites were down. This happened for about 30 seconds three times today within a period of about 2 hours. Strange. :Q

But other than that it's great. I get incredible download speeds (average over 250KB/sec, yes, average :D) -- my only quabble is that upload speeds are limited @ 128k. :(

And how could I forget...the NNTP server is as good as any premium out there -- it's so fast, such good completion, only problem is that the retention on binary groups is only 3 days. Not too bad, but not too good either.

Here is their national CS number:
1-877-777-6303
Call 'em up and ask a few questions.
I have been a customer for well over a year, and I am still not in their data base.
This may not be a problem everywhere, but they do not know who their customers are in SC.
So call, give a name and an SC area code, like 803, and make up a complaint and see how they handle it.
