Road Runner Refund

I hope this is the right forum to get help for problems with ISPs. Here's what happened. I first experienced a service outage with Road Runner on 1/2, but since I was leaving Ithaca (upstate NY) on the same day, I thought it'd be temporary. (hint: never assume that!)

Then I came back on the 19th. Still no connection. I called and since it was a long weekend, I couldn't get anyone to come to my house till the 23rd. Turns out to be a wiring problem outside the apartment, so between those days I had to rely on very poor dialup.

I've called RR and they're giving me just a pro-rated refund. To me that's very unfair since it won't hurt them a bit -- comes out to about $7 for 4-5 days of no service (since I didn't call on the 2nd). The headaches the outage caused was a lot worse than $7. And they didn't tell me they have free dialup, which would've at least solved the problem of finding something other than NetZero.

I hope you learn from my experience, but I'm wondering if I'm entitled to more than $7. Thanks.

I don't see how you could be entitled to more than a pro-rated refund. Thats pretty much standard practice. If this was some sort of leased line for a business and you could claim loss of income or something mabye, but that would have had to be an agreement you made with them before the fact and they would have had to guarantee you service, which they never did.

I agree that it's standard practice. Never seems to amount to much. What surprises me is that Roadrunner has free dialup? Really? In NYC, too?

Roadrunner has free dialup in some areas, but not all.

I'm in the hudson valley area and they don't have one here.
