road runner cable modem access ?

Okay, here's the question:

If I originally had cable modem access with Time Warner cable. Then I cancel cable modem.

a) do they take away the Toshiba Cable Modem?

b) if i buy my own and plug it in, will i still have access to cable modem even after I cancel it?

I'm not sure about this, but I think you are assigned a static IP address. if you cancel they remove the modem and the IP address.

my understanding is that the cable modem's MAC address is bound to an IP address. It's not really static but seems that way because the cable modem is always on..

confirmations anyone?

a) It depends if you purchased the cable modem when you began the service. Some services give you it for free, others charge an extra 10 dollars to rent the cable modem. So it really depends.

b) IF you cancel the cable modem service, you wont have cable internet access.
