How do you handle it???

I try to de-escalate the event by pulling to the side of the road,
I inform the other party that I have dash cams and then I do not saying anything more.

When in doubt...whip it out. I mean...why the hell carry a pistol if you don’t use it for your own protection?

How do you get into it in the first place? It takes two people and both think they are right. Best solution dont be a jerk. Example if someone is trying to cut in front of you let them, so what? You think that if you don't let them they will some how learn from that experience, never. And don't react to people being jerks on the road because all it does is stoke your ego. I was a road rage poster child in my younger years but I've learned not to react and be polite all the time. I'm a much happier person when I get to my destination but.

How bad is your driving that you feel you need to have a plan? The best way to handle it is to not be an asshole in the first place. The old ounce of prevention thing.

I watch a lot of car crash videos and I swear there are so many hits that can be avoided if only:
- instead of leaning on the horn and hoping the idiot reacts, drive defensively and brake first
- instead of staying in your lane because you're already in it, drive defensively and see if they're actually merging into your lane

Basically, just because you were there first, it's still not worth the heartache of having to get your car fixed. DRIVE DEFENSIVELY. You're just as responsible.
 
I've never had a road rage incident where I actually had to stop. I would never dare to confront a road rager. Some of those are complete whack jobs. I just let them pass or whatever it is they're trying to do and try to get out of the situation.

One time I had one that was trying to stop me from doing a lane change, I wanted to do a left to go to Subway but I could not change into the left lane because of that asshole. So I just went to McDonald's instead since that just required a right turn further down the road. Not like Subway would have been any healthier anyway. 😛
 
I have a short fuse at times and have been known to run my mouth a bit so there is only a very tiny part of me that keeps me from escalating a road rage situation. That tiny part comes from living in an area where road rage shootings frequently made the news. Its hard to deride and disparage the offender and their jail sentence if I'm dead. So basically I don't let it get to the point of out of car interactions
 
I just swerve into the rager's motorcycle. Ouchie. :smirk:

Seriously, I'm not pulling over. I might touch the brakes if they're behind me. But mostly ignore their frantic gesticulations.
 
I point to my dash cam and pull out my phone. That always get them to leave pretty quickly.

If you have a dash cam, review your footage. Most of the time...it's no one's fault. It's two stressed out drivers being too overly sensitive about nothing.

you can still be a butthole without getting violations or causing accidents

i've never had anyone get road raged at me because i just stay chill when crazy people cut in front of me and a make an effort to stay as far right as i can

I mean, I'm all for concealed carry, but to be honest I don't understand how that de-escalate a hot-headed issue.

The point of a gun is to be an equalizer if something were to occur - not to be the cause as to why something occurs. Leave that for the bullshit western movies.
 
Theres a reason why I drive a 400+ hp car. They cant stay mad If they cant keep up 😀

The other day I saw a Camaro zl1 with a plate that said "m3erica". No joke, lol.

Yes there are, it's people who tailgate so close that they require a brake check.

The worst are the people who run an on ramp to the very end and try to push you off the road to merge. I've seen people almost daily drive all the way into the emergency lane to cut people off.

there is absolutely nothing that makes brake checking a good idea. if you think brake checking is ever a good idea, you need to stop driving.

people who tailgate are really bad, but people who brake check are worse. if you're getting tailgated the correct course of action is to maintain speed and get over when you can.
