Has anyone applied sound deadening materials to their vehicle and did it make a noticeably difference?

Any other tricks for reducing road noise in your car?

My contribution? I once bought some "quiet tires". Quite frankly I think quiet tires are marketing hogwash. I felt as though there was zero improvement.

Also, any good sites out there that rate road noise for various vehicles?

Thanks!

I know the current tires I have on my Subaru are noisier than the Sumitomos that were on it before, especially during the summer at highway speeds. Annoying.
People seem to have good luck with Dynamat.

Ensure all your rubber door weather stripping is fresh and springy. I have this product, Gummi Pflege or something, and I apply it to every single rubber weather stripping to my cars twice a year and the noise difference is night and day. I've had this one bottle for 4 years now and apply it to 3 cars.

I can tell when the stripping is nice and airtight when I can close a door/window/moonroof and can feel the pressure change with my ears.

From my experience, this is the majority of road noise bleeding into a car.

Buy a quieter car, or figure out where the noise is coming from. Is it wind, tire, or engine noise? Dynamatting an entire vehicle seems like overkill, and it adds weight and expense you'll never get back out of it.
