I am looking for a decent entry level road bike to get into better shape and build up my stamina for touring on my motorcycle later this summer/fall. My knees just can't take running anymore. I haven't ridden/owned a pedal bike in 14+ years.
I am not interested in race hardware or drop bars. I am thinking more along the lines of a hybrid or straight bar road bike.
To give you an idea of the price/component range I am looking at here are a couple models I have my eye on.
Trek 7.5 FX (was the 7500 FX last year)
Giant FCR 1 (I believe this was the FCR 2 last year)
I am open to just about anything. I want solid components, because I want to ride, not spend time tweaking/'adjusting cheap switching gear.
