Road conditions for July 4th weekend

I've never travel during this hectic weekend, but I'm tempted to head down to Atlantic City for a couple of days. Check in Monday morning July 4th and leave Wednesday afternoon. Are roads bad in the morning hours?

on the 4th itself it might not be so bad, however the days before and after will be hell

The roads will be the same no matter the time.
It's the traffic that will vary.
