So i have this stick of PC2100 DDR that i bought in december 01 as a christmas present to myself. The ram is no longer any good I.E. random reboots, bsod's and etc. My system works great without this ram and ive tested it in 2 other machines. Its definitely the ram. So im on the Micron site trying to RMA this ram since i believe it has a lifetime warranty and such. But they say i can only return it to the person who i bought it from. I bought it from a company listed on pricewatch and i dont remember which company i bought it from and i dont have the reciept or any documentation for this ram. Am i just stuck eating the cost of this ram since i lost my reciept ? Any help would be appreciated. thanks - Mark

Call Micron/Crucial on the phone; you may get someone who'll exchange it. The problem is that you bought "OEM" which is not technically supported by Micron/Crucial, but by the retailer who sold it to you.

Are you sure it's actually Crucial and not just a generic module that uses Micron chips?

there are no stickers on it, so the only thing i have to go buy is the micron chips on the ram itself

thanks for the response

when i google the chip # the results are mostly just for motherboard compatiblity tests as a micron/crucial stick

If there aren't any stickers on it, it's not Crucial brand memory. Micron Technologies sells their chips to other companies who make "generic" modules using their own PCBs and the Crucial chips. You will need to either figure out where you got it and find the receipts, or you're SOL.

when i bought it, it was just listed as "micron brand ram" so its prob just generic with Mt chips.

I have however since bought an actual crucial stick and i couldnt be happier with that stick, im going to look to crucial first from now on.

thanks for the responses, - Mark

crucial have just sent me a RMA number for a stick that went bad, no problems at all so far, since i bought it direct from them, but they do want the batch numbers etc etc and i gather to forget it if there's no sticker - fair enough really. As long as a new stick is sent to me i'll keep buying & reccomending them as quality for good price (though not really top quality enough for uber overclockers).
