I have had two BFG 5200...not the greatest but decent for family use. I took one of them out on a old computer that the processor burned up a long ago.

Assuming the card was fine still, I put it in a friend's computer. 3-5 minutes later, artifiacts...crap. Contact was there so I have no idea. Spent the whole night trying to see if it was the drivers or maybe trying to downclock it...nothing worked. Then I realized the lifetime warranty. :)

Will I get another 5200 back or an upgrade? Either one is fine...BFG is too cool. All of my cards are actually either BFG or ATI.

You can probably call their customer service and find out.

If they no longer produce FX 5200s and they are still selling FX 5500s, that may be your replacement.

But I'd call them and find out.

maybe you'll get a 7800gt?

I'm willing to bet that even if they no longer manufacture these cards, they have a storage full of older models, just for use with their lifetime warranties.

I remember some guy whining about sending in a 5200U and getting a 5500 64-bit memory interface back over on HardForums. He was not happy, although H is a bad place to whine about BFG because Kyle B. is sleeping with them, so b!tching about them just about gets you an auto ban :p

a 5200 is basically just an underclocked 5500....so technically, if he got one, it wouldnt be a big step up. i think its like a 20mhz OC on the core difference...

but i dunno what they'll do. you'll be better off getting a new card probably.
