Blizz used to take a hard line against using real money for virtual goods because it hurt the integrity of the games.
Of course, despite Blizzard's best efforts, there were always some gold farmers and item sellers working in the background.
Now with the RMAH Blizzard has effectively "legalized drugs" and even set up a system where they benefit, financially, from transactions.
And now many users complain that it hurts the integrity of the game.
See? Legalizing drugs isn't as easy as you think it is. There are serious downsides which would come with it.
