First, kudos to Galaxy for getting me a card within a week of me shipping mine out. There was zero communication on the RMA status, but out of nowhere 5 days later I just had this dropped off at my door.

What do you guys think? I lose some VRam but the 560TI looks slightly faster overall. I guess I would have liked to have been notified I was getting a different card...

Sounds fair.

You obviously weren't messed up, meaning you were not running 470SLI. If you were, that would be important info to include with the RMA card.

Actually I am wrong, they sent me a 560Ti 448 Core. I've never even heard of this card... its been way to hard to keep up with naming conventions the past few years.

I guess I didn't lose any ram after all!

Galaxy is good like that the Gtx 560 TI is a much better built card.

Check that 448 core version? you can OC that bad boy to near 580 performance levels.. id be writing Galaxy a thank you note lol.

Pretty sexy card with removable fan !

Evga did it to me as well, I RMA'd a GTS450 and got a GTX 550ti. The bummer is that i was running the 450's in SLI. Its all good though becasue I just build a new system and got the 660Ti SC 3G anyway. I was going to put the GTX550 in my new rig as a physx card, but I was told it not worth it, no games really using physx yet. So I have an older machine to hand down to a family member.

Those are the same, just the 560ti 448 was the next version. It's a GF110 with 448CC. The 470 was a GF100 with 448CC. A lot of companies would have tried to give you a lesser card. Good on Galaxy.

Really? I've never heard of a company giving a lesser card (not saying you're wrong, i just thought the standard was to step them up). ATI many years ago took my x800xl RMA and returned to me an x850xt... thought that was pretty sweet.

I've seen posts on this forum where companies have given someone a lesser card from a newer gen simply because the performance was the same.

it's a "downgrade" in some aspects, I think it would be more correct to send a GTX 570... same amount of memory and higher double precision performance...
because in some cases and applications the 470 can be faster than the 560 Ti.

in my opinion they should send something which is always equal or better.

The 560ti 448c is better than a 470

my bad (well, not really, that's a stupid naming scheme anyway)
I thought he had received a "real 560 Ti" (gk114), I did not see his post where he says it's a 448.

in this case, the ti 448 seems like the right card to replace the 470.

Excellent now if my motherboard ever comes back I will be able to take advantage of this.

Will be a pain finding one for SLI though I guess... limited release cards?!

They're going to go EoL someday, probably sooner rather than later. If you want new and SLI you'll want to act on it before they go EoL. Though it really depends on supply, EVGA is still selling GTX 480s even though 470s went EoL a long time ago.

As others have said it's an upgrade. If you overclocked and got a plan 560 Ti than it would have been a downgrade performance wise.

You basically have a direct 470 revision, higher clocks, better thermals, and full speed FP16.

560 Ti 448 is almost the speed of a GTX 570. I don't know why they even bothered with the 560 Ti 448 model because it's so close to the 570.

I always did believed the 560 Ti 448 had 1GB VRAM, just like the reguar Ti, but it seems it has 1280MB RAM, just like GTX 470 and GTX 570.

So they yes, this is an upgrade from a GTX 470.

well it's GF110 and in time they gathered enough scraps to release 448 cude cores version.

or terrible yields as Charlie D. puts it.
