Hi Osage... well it's nice they upgraded the card, too bad the fan is dead. IMHO I would e-mail them and explain the prob, it seems they are very diligent so you might explain them that you can't be without your computer again for another 7-9 days, perhaps you can make them ship a replacement card and when you receive it you can ship the one with the dead fan to them.
At least Amazon.com works that way. I ordered a Canon A75 Digital Camera from amazon back in december and it had some color and focus problems, I requested a return and they sent me a new one inmediately and it arrived in a couple of days. When the UPS people delivered the new camera they took the defective one back to amazon, I didn't even had to pay for the shipping....ahh....too bad Amazon doesn't sells quality computer parts.
Now then, if you are planning on installing a VGA Silencer then you can keep the current one and avoid the trouble of another RMA. I got an ATI 9800 PRO on eBay (in like new condition) and I can tell you that at least mine it's a little oven. It made my case temp jump up 10°C so I had to literally "wrap the card with fans" to keep it cool while I wait for the VGA silencer I ordered. I have an 80mm fan blowing directly at the heatsink and a 40mm blowing the back of the card. That's the only way I can stabilize my temps and keep the card from generating small artifacts with atitool. Some people tell me that I should try to reseat the HSF, but I've read that the pins kinda weak and easily broken, and I don't want to mess up with the card before the Silencer arrives.
