system build:

asus P5E Lifestyle
Intel P6600 cpu
2 gigs Corsair ram
wd raptor 150
wd 500 gig sata
enermax galaxy dx x
evga 8800gtx graphics
vista home premium
dell 2408 monitor

stock settings

All components including monitor less than three months old.

The setup was running fine for a couple of months. i had it on a kvm switch sharing with another older home built.

Funny thing is, the psu crapped out on the older box and the newer box started to give a blank screen just a few days later.

I have two other boxes running separately that are trouble free fine in the same room.

In the newer box the enermax galaxy ps shows a green light on startup, all fans are running and boot starts up right away, but screen stays blank with monitor showing blinking green light.

The motherboard also shows green light.

I checked all connections and all seemed tight and ok.

With all other things seeming to be nominal, i zero'd in on the graphics card and RMA'd it.

The replacement unit came within days, but upon installation i still had a blank screen.

To complicate things even further, when i tried the Dell 2408 monitor on another known good box, the monitor doesn't work either and it looks like i'm going to have to RMA that too.

So far, i got the older box working hooked up to an old sony F500 CRT and it works great.

I tried hooking up the newer box to the CRT but it still shows a blank screen as mentioned previously.

Any thoughts on this will be greatly appreciated.

possible bad electrical wiring or getting power spikes that are overwhelming any power backup/protectors you are using. I had a person that had a similar issue occur, and with some encouragement, they discovered most of the outlets in the house were not grounded or the ground was hot.

robisbell, thanks for the tip. i'll investigate this right away.

What do think about the PSU being the culprit?

Have you tried clearing the CMOS?
Power spikes can scramble the settings.

so, what did your investigation of the electrical wiring turn up?

Inspected the wall socket with a DMM , bypassed the belkin power strip, swapped out the power cord for a known good one and plugged directly into wall socket.

Checked output at connecters labelled "graphics only" and voltages are within spec but on the lower side.

Removed power and data cables from all drives except OS HDD.

At the moment I'm guessing between RMA'd graphics card being another lemon and somehow the PS.

I'm going to try a cheap PCI graphics card to see if i get any kind of signal to the CRT to try to narrow down the cause.

any other suggestions would be much appreciated.
