I sold the following brands of motherboards and offered a warranty on them:
Asus (A7V, A7V133, A7V266, A7N266-C, A7n8x Dlx)
Abit (KT7a-RAID, NF7-S, NF7)
Tyan (Thunder K7, Tiger MPX)
MSI (K7N2 Delta2-LSR)

Total units sold:
A7V - 1
A7V133 - 2
A7V266 - 2
A7N266-C - 1
A7n8x Dlx - 38

KT7a-RAID - 1
NF7-S - 24
NF7 - 18

Thunder K7 - 1
Tiger MPX - 4

K7N2 Delta2-LSR - 1

Total RMA replacements made (bold indicates more replacements than boards sold, and is followed by the average number of returns/board):
A7V - 0
A7V133 - 0
A7V266 - 0
A7N266-C - 3, 3
A7n8x Dlx - 3, plus 1 that was unable to be replaced.

KT7a-RAID - 4
NF7-S - 1 (This was not a board failure, by the way, the PSU's 3.3v rail went nuts)
NF7 - 2

Thunder K7 - 0
Tiger MPX - 0

K7N2 Delta2-LSR - 1

I figure these stats may be useful for helping someone decide something. I know it's helped me out. Also, note that many boards are not yet out of warranty, so there may be more later on, but I've been almost exclusively K8 for more than a year now.

Knowing a fair bit about statistics, I'll have to say that your numbers for all but three products are WAY too low to tell anything relevant.

It's about in line with my own observation of 20 years in the business that for any kind of consumer computer equipment, roughly one in ten is DOA.

Peter is probably right, though the DOA statistic is probably a bit lower, probably more like 2-5%. However, I've noticed that some products just have problems and have a really high RMA/DOA rate. For instance, early KT266 motherboards were problematic in high percentages (IIRC motherboard manufacturers got lazy and placed the new chipset onto existing KT133A boards and expected them to work). Also, past couple of years I've noticed that the Maxtor 20/30/40GB 7200RPM hard drives that were super slim seem to be more prone to failure than other lines of drives, kinda like a "Deathstar Junior" so to speak.
