Now we settle the motherboard RMA rate with Abit running the RMA race
How about HD
Maxtor, Quantum, Western digital, Fuijsui,IBM, Samsung.
Personally I think Maxtor has the lowest RMA rate
and WD and Fuijsu are the worse

SerraYX, there was a thread here about a week ago about how somebody RMAed his IBM 75GXP and got back a refurb.

I'm a fan of IBMs, but the first IBM I ever bought, a 6.4G, failed in only a few weeks because of an electronic problem (data recoverable by using another circuit board).

The failure rate my employer experienced was about 1 every 150-200 within the first month, 1 every 50-100 per year.

well, as for RMA rate, I've used so much HDs over the years. the past couple years I mainly use IBM and Maxtor HDs, and I'd say the RMA rate is about the same. (Just go back 2 IBMs this week, one brand new and one refurb, IBM's replacement is very fast though, they are basically shipping it second day air the moment the RMA is received and confirmed, but website is slow to report this)
