My EVGA 8800GTS SC 320 seems to cause artifacts or pixel problems when I sometimes casually use the computer or rendering on After effects or 3ds max.
Should I rma it?
Right now the idle temp is 85 diode and 79 memory and 70 ambient at 75% fan.
Thanks.

Artifacts and pixels across the screen are symptoms of a bad video card. The SC edition is factory overclocked, so could be that the card is failing as a result of this. I'd RMA it.

Before doing that, take some compressed air and blow out the fan/heatsink.

That = truth

And dont use arctic silver. I used to buy open box newegg gfx (probably 30 or so all told). and about 50% arrived doa. I fixed all of them with a thorough cleaning. Every single one was dead because some (insert derogatory term for a stupid person) applied AS like an imbecile and neglected to realize that electronics and silver are a bad combination. Cleaning every damn transistor, cap and resistor on a card with a q tip because some one was an idiot and Newegg's return policy is too generous gets old really fast.

The plus of this was about 75% of the 9500's I bought would softmod. So I got a laugh at the idiots who got a softmoddable 9500 (~1 in 3 chance) and then had to RMA it because of their own idiocy.

Even though it use to be fine?
And how do I remove the heatsink?
cant find instructions online and aren't there thermal pads I would need to replace?

in other words... you should give your card some maintenance in the cooling before mail it to someplace call RMA... or am I wrong?

Number one cause of crashing/artifacting, is overheating. Number one cause of overheating, is dust. Number one cause of dust, is the big bang.
