RMA experience with MSI (mini-rant)

Problem:

Card overheats and locks up PC. Popped open my case and see that the fan on my 6600GT stopped. If I spin it with my finger, it starts again.

Diagnosis:

Faulty Fan.

So I fill out the RMA form, send out card via priority mail ASAP. This is just over 2 weeks ago.

Yesterday I receive the card back. The card looks strangely...no, intimately, familiar. I check the serial numbers and sure enough, it's the card I sent in. No problem, so long as they replace the heatsink/fan, right?

Upon closer inspection, I notice dust on the fan blades. WTF?!

So I call in pretty pissed off. They said there was "no fault found" with the card. Evidently they ignored the details that I included, that it was an intermittent problem.

They agree to send me a new heatsink and fan to expedite the process...but I have to replace the thing myself.

Cliffs:

1) Sent RMA for a fan that fails intermittently.
2) They send the card back to me without doing jack.
3) Next time I'll buy from somebody (anybody) else.

That's not much of a rant.

You could have just bought an aftermarket fan for it and wouldn't have had to RMA it.

So now you can put a factory HSF on it yourself without voiding your warranty.

You should have seen my rant about my PowerColor 9600XT. It was dying slowly and artifacting really bad. So I RMA'd it. I had to wait nearly 2 months to get it back. What I got back didn't look anything like my original card. I checked the product number and it was listed as a 9600XT, but this one didn't come with Overdrive or the temp sensor, which is required of the XT series in the first place. It wasn't clocked the same either.

Now that was a rant.
