RJ45 Splitter

Say you have two computers, or a computer and a console.

I have a Rj45 cable running from the downstairs router to my room. Is there a way I can split that into two connectors one for the console, one for the PC?

Maybe a feamle to 2 female splitter?

I have yet to find one of these though=(

Yeah there is a Spliter, you have to use them in pairs, one in each side of the connection.

As a result it is more expensive then the Switch in the above post, and might create Network "Quirks".

No one ever seems to mention the ghetto method... Just get four RJ-45 ends and split the pairs out. You could even put the ends in a nice face plate or surface mount box for a cleaner looking install.

This is LOL too.

A Keystone and a Plate, and box is $6-$8. You have to do it in both side of the Cable so it is $12-$16.

Quality wise you are better with a Switch for the same price.

That's what switches are for. Simple 5-port units w/ external power supply (read: consumer switches) are less than $20.

I agree, simple switches are so cheap, as is cable. Why mess with trying to run two connection through one cable?

Sure, if you're just going to carry data a switch is the answer. But if you only have 4 pairs in the house and you need voice and data... Its pair splitting time!!!
