RJ45 and USB plugs

This is a questions that relates more to the mechanical side of networking. I've got a server I'm giving to someone. I don't want them to be able to plug any USB or RJ45 cables into certain holes in the box, so I'd like to plug these up somehow.

Are there brightly colored USB and RJ45 plugs available that would prevent someone from casually using the holes I don't want them to use?

It doesn't matter if the plug is removable, but it needs to show up with certain holes recognizably off limits.

Thanks!

just buy an rj45 jack and stick it in the port...spray paint it red if you want.

same thing for the usb. buy a few lonely ends and call it a day.

Thanks for the reply! I'd never heard of Advanced Connectek, so thanks for sharing that link. I don't want to spray paint, so that's out. Right now I think I'll buy overmolded RJ45 cables and cut off the ends - I'll have plenty of colors to choose from, and they won't look too ghetto. For USB, I may do the same thing, but then again, USB cables cost more than ethernet. I'll send in an inquiry at that site and see what quote they come up with.

Thanks again.

you could also disable the ports in the BIOS (assuming on board ones) so that even if they ARE dumb enough to pull the blank it won't link up...won't help with USB though.

if you are giving someone the server, what would it matter to you if they use the ports or not? and unterminated RJ45 would be the easiest way to do it, as well as the USB equal.

Bright pink duct tape (or even the boring silver stuff) would definitely have the desired effect and would be much cheaper and easier than buying new cable ends. If you want to avoid the sticky residue from duct tape, try some painters tape as it will stick well but come off easily with no residue when you are ready to remove it.
