RJ-45 Crimper and Continuity Tester

I've been looking for some cheap crimpers for home and work purposes. These were the cheapest I could find and they come with a continuity tester.

The Shipping is $8 for 1, 2, 3, or 4. After 4 it jumpes up. YMMV on shipping.

I have the same crimpers and has worked great for the past 100+ crimps and cuts. I surely wouldnt suggest them to someone that will use them for a living but great for the average user at home like myself. Im not sure how that tester works but could anyone tell me if it would tell me if I used it if I had a live connection at a wall jack?

I've never used a tester like this before, but from what I can gather it is for testing the connections on a patch or crossover cable that you created using the crimpers. There are two pieces, you plug each end of the cord into one of the pieces and it tests the continuity of the connections. I'd think that if you have a female wall jack you could come out of it with a patch cord and plug that into one tester piece and do the same on the other end of the run and test the continuity that way. Just make sure you test the patch cords you are going to use as adapters before hand so you know they are good.

They work fine. We use them at work and they do the job. At $4.99 each they are nicely priced. I got them on several occasions with 1000' of Cat 5 cabling. Geeks is a good company. Shipping prices are a little weird, but not overly high.
