rivatuner, x1900gt, fan speeds, Accelero X2

I have an Accelero X2 on my x1900gt, idles around 49 C. Using rivatuner I can set the fan speed to 100% (can hear virtually no difference), but temps drop to 42. Is this safe or will I wear out my fan in no time? Also is rivatuner fairly ok as a program? I am used to using ati tool, but does not find my fan speed (neither does tray tools). Also can you run ati tool to use the articfact test, while adjusting clocks with rivatuner?

Never mind, just read the thread on tray tools and answered most of my questions, except how quick I will kill my fan running at 100%.

I was sure surprised as rivatuner showed it running at 27%. Under load, I am now staying under 55c and can't hear it. The stock fan ran around 85c under load (at default settings). Really I should just run it to my fan controller and leave it on full. 🙂

good to hear....ill probably pick up an Accelero X2 when i eventually get my mits on a X1900XTX.

from what ive read the VF900 seems to have conflicting reviews...some say its awesome, others say its much worse than stock.

ill see how bad the stock cooler is, noise wise, first

edit: jus looked at the Accelero and im not sure i like the way that things blowing....straight at the PCI-E slot, and in my case straight into my Chipset fan. dont like the sounds of that!

I have good airflow and just left one pcie slot open at the back and internal temps have stayed very good. I am anal about noise - so am happy to have a cooler I can't hear over my ps (which is quiet, but could be quieter). Just ran a few tests at 621 core and 1260 mem and temps didn't budge, no visible artifacts. css stress test went from 144 to 149fps.

3dm05 did improve a bit.
